Ulissi wins the queen stage and yellow jersey
Statements after the 3rd stage:
Italian Diego Ulissi (Lampre) was the first to reach the finish line of the queen stage, taking the lead in the overall standings. "I felt good already on the first two climbs of the stage, so it wasn’t that difficult to follow the leaders. On the final climb, two kilometres before the finish line, I executed a full-on attack where there was no wind, and this brought me victory and the yellow jersey. Many thanks also go to my teammate Simon Špilak, who helped me a lot during the final ascent."
Robert Vrečer came fourth in the 3rd stage and relinquished the yellow jersey: "We can be happy, but mostly I’m sorry for the team. They did everything necessary, but I do not have the yellow jersey, though I have nothing to blame myself for. I had some problems during the race, but I’m not disappointed. I have to point out though that all of the teams were competing against Perutnina Ptuj, not for the win."
