Best Slovenian on the stage was Jure Golčer (Felbermayr). He was seven seconds slower than the winner and so he took eight place. Jan Polanc (Lampre) is over 12 seconds behind leader Ovechkin, Jani Brajkovič has even bigger gap – around 23 seconds.
Adria Mobil’s Primož Roglič was also quite satisfied after his battle with seconds: “I’m happy with time trial, but my coach told me that I had lost five big seconds. I’m still learning, I will do better next time.”
We were curious about what will current junior world champion Sven Erik Byström show. Norwegian did a very good job today and is now sitting in fourth position.
What Davide Appollonio (Androni) said after time trial: “I’m not a TT specialist, but my legs are still strong from Giro, so I’m happy with my result. We will see where will this time take me.”
Radoslav Rogina (Adria Mobil), winner of 2013 Tour of Slovenia, also stopped by our team and gave us his comment of the race: “My result is similar to that from 2014. We will see what this means for the overall competition after other climbers cross the finish line.”
First rider on the opening time trial of 22nd edition of Tour of Slovenia was 18-year old Jon Božič from team Adria Mobil Cycling, but he was not happy with his result: “I’m not satisfied with my time. I was hoping for the result near 10:15 or 10:20. The wind was very strong towards Rudnik, but it was perfect on the way back. This is new experience for me, I was not nervous at all on the start of such a big race.”
