After the initial two stage wins by Grega Bole, the third "queen stage" win at the 17th Tour de Slovénie from Bled to Krvavec went to Vincenzo Nibali. Gašper Švab was the best among the Slovenians.

170,5 km – 500 m to the finish - The leader has a 40-second advantage over the six chasers.

169, 5 km – 1,5 km to the finish - 1.5 kilometres before the finish, Nibali's advantage is 35 seconds.

169 km - 2 km to the finish - Nibali is approaching the final two kilometres of the race through fog and rain, the air temperature is 2 degrees Celsius.

168 km – 3 km to the finish - The riders are racing in fog. The situation at the top remains the same.

163 km – 8 km to the finish - The Italian is in the lead and the tempo is dictated by Saxo Bank. The gap between them is 25 seconds.

158 km – 13 km to the finish - Vincenzo Nibali (Ita/Liquigas) is attacking. He is 50 metres ahead of the chasers who are unable to respond to the attack of the Italian who placed third in this year's Giro d'Italia.

157 km – 14 km to the finish - 300 metres into the climb, the peloton has caught the breakaway riders, with Liquigas riders in the front, followed by Team Radenska. A final decision has not been made yet. A two-kilometre steep uphill battle is next.

148 km - There are less than 10 kilometres remaining until the start of the final 12-kilometre climb to Mt. Krvavec. The main pack has increased the tempo significantly, reducing the breakaway riders' advantage.

143 km - The competitors have completed the circular section and are heading towards Brdo, in the direction of Mt. Krvavec. There is a shower of heavy rain in Kokrica. The peloton is 3 minutes behind and the teams have started to pick up the tempo.

138 km - The breakaway riders' advantage has dropped to 3:20. It appears the peloton will close the gap to the breakaway.

136 km - Today's race to Mt. Krvavec will decide the third winner of this stage. Jure Golčer was the first, followed by Simon Špilak who came first last year.

135 km - The breakaway riders are still nearly four minutes ahead. It is raining in the greater Kranj area.

113 km - There have been no major changes in the race. The peloton is four minutes behind the breakaway and it seems that the uphill battle will again be fought in the rain.

101 km - After their climb to Senično, the leading riders are 3:45 ahead. Blaž Bonča (Slo/Delo revije) is out of the race.

94 km - The breakaway riders are 4:40 ahead. The situation in the peloton has not changed.

84 km - The breakaway riders are together setting the tempo in the lead. There have been no major changes in the peloton where the tempo is stil dictated by Team Liquigas and Team Adria Mobil. There is some light rain in Naklo.

76 km - The breakaway three have already crossed the mountain finish with an advantage of 5 minutes and 15 seconds over the peloton that has just started their climb to Senično. Serafin Martinez Acevedo (Spa/Xacobeo) is the sixth to drop out of the race.

68 km - The gap between the breakaway and the peloton remains unchanged.

60 km - The breakaway riders are 5:30 minutes ahead. Team Adria Mobil has also begun dictating the tempo in the peloton.

56 km - The breakaway riders are 5 minutes and 20 seconds ahead of the main pack where Team Liquigas and Team Lampre are dictating the tempo. Matej Gnezda (Slo/Adria Mobil) is the fifth rider to end the race prematurely.

51 km - After crossing the mountain finish, the breakaway held an advantage of 5:14 minutes over the peloton.

47 km - Having built a solid advantage of 4 minutes over the peloton, the breakaway riders are approaching the climb to Senično.

45 km - The average speed first hour into the race is 45 km/h.

43 km - The three hold an increasing advantage over the peloton where Team Liquigas has begun dictating the tempo. The breakaway riders are 2 minutes and 30 seconds ahead.

40 km - The breakaway riders have a 35-second advantage over the peloton. The stage finish, Mt. Krvavec, is rainy and the air temperature is 8 degrees Celsius.

34 km - Three riders, Maarten Neyens (Bel/TopSport), Reiner Honig (Ned/Aqua Sapone) and Gianluca Mirenda (Ita/ISD - Neri) have secured as much as a 200-metre lead over the peloton. It seems that the peloton will permit the breakaway as it is slowing down.

30 km - A group of four has secured a 100-metre lead over the main pack. They are Mauro Da Dalto (Ita/Lampre), Blaž Jarc (Slo/Adria Mobil), Gorik Gardeyn (Bel/Vacansoleil)and Rafai Chtioui (Tun/Aqua Sapone).

32 km - Immediately after the breakaway was caught, a new group escaped. Their advantage is minimum.

28 km - The main pack is still in a spread-out formation. The speeds are very high. Out of the 106 riders that started the race, four are out. Enrico Rossi (Ita/Ceramica) fell in the 1st stage, Giuseppe Palumbo (Ita/Aqua Sapone) and Aleksandar Pršo (Cro/Loborika) in the 2nd, Gregor Lah (Slo/Delo revije) is also out.

25 km - Today's queen stage will most likely define the winner of the 17th Tour de Slovénie. Italy's Vincenzo Nibali (Ita/Liquigas) is the biggest favourite. He was second in the Tour de Slovénie once before and came third at this year's Giro d'Italia. "My teammate Kišerlovski and I are in solid shape and will do everything we can to rank as high as possible in the climb to Krvavec," said Nibali.

23 km - Riccibitti was re-absorbed into the main pack, which maintains a very harsh tempo. Attempts to escape continue.

20 km - Davide Riccibitti (Ita/ISD - Neri) has gained 100 metres of ground on the group behind him.

18 km - The peloton remains spread-out, breakaway attempts are still unsuccessful.

14 km - The peloton is highly spread-out and there have been no successful attempts to break away.

9 km - A number of unsuccessful attempts to escape from the peloton have been made, which is why it is still very spread-out.

6 km - The main pack has closed the gap to the breakaway but escape attempts continue.

4 km - A group of 12 riders has managed to secure a solid 150-metre lead. This includes the riders of Adria Mobil, Radenska, Lampre, ISD-Neri and others.

2 km - Breakaway attempts have begun right off the start.

1 km - The weather at the start of the stage is sunny.

Start – Bled (171 km)

11.30 - The third stage of the Tour de Slovénie has started with the riders racing down the streets of Bled in close formation.

11.25 - Two stages into the race, the leader Grega Bole (Lampre-Farnese Vini) has a time of 8;16:04, the Italian Daniele Bennati (Liquigas-Butan plin) is 14 seconds behind, and Bole's compatriot, Matej Stare (Sava) is another two seconds behind.

11.25 - Expectations are highest for the following Slovenians: Tomaž Nose, Mitja Mahorič, Gašper Švab, Luka Mezgec and Blaž Furdi.

11.24 - The 3rd stage also includes two mountain finishes and three intermediate sprints. Experts predict that a small group of riders will break away in the first part of the stage. The second part will see the teams preparing their best riders for the climb in order to give them the best possible starting point for the uphill battle.

11.22 - After the 2nd stage finish in Villach, the stage starts in Bled this time. The riders are facing a 171-kilometre race ending on Mt. Krvavec.
